About this site
This site is a gallery of Eurythmics collectibles, not a sales site. It has been set up to provide fans with an opportunity to see some of the Eurythmics and related releases from around the world which they may otherwise not have access to. The images on this site are not just my private collection, but from fans all over the world. If anyone has other items to add, they are always welcome, but I ask that you email me before sending.
About me
My name is Mark, and I am from Australia.
I discovered Eurythmics when I was 20 years old. Before this time I didn't listen to music much. Losing most of the hearing in my right ear when I was 12 and being fairly shy, and I had shied away from music.
When I was 21, I worked in a small town in the Australian Outback, and on a trip to the city my friends stopped at a music store. As I was waiting for them and browsing, I came across a tape of "Revenge", the first album I ever bought. A few months later I saw television adverts for "We too are one", so I decided to buy it on CD and had to then buy a CD player to play it. Eurythmics music captivated me at this stage when I realised how the music spoke to me and touched me. Before long I owned five Eurythmics albums and discovered that Eurythmics were available on video too. Eurythmics Live! and Savage were my first purchases.
When I was 23 I moved closer to the city, and by now had managed to buy all of the Eurythmics CDs and videos that were available at mainstream stores. By chance I met a Beatles collector, who suggested I visit a Record Fair in the city the following weekend. He told me about special releases and promotional releases. Within a few minutes of walking into the fair, I found and purchased the Limited edition CD single "Don't ask me why" box set. That day I went home with a few treasures, and knowledge of "Second Hand" record stores.
Eurythmics music continued to captivate me, and the newly discovered vinyl 7" and 12" singles with B sides songs were fascinating. Again, by chance "Record Collector" released a Eurythmics collectibles guide at this time, which opened my eyes further. By this stage my confidence had grown a lot, and I met and married Linda. Collecting has become and enjoyable hobby... luckily my wife enjoys Eurythmics too.
I still enjoy collecting, but of course with a family to support I am much more discerning what I buy and how much I spend, but that's ok. I've never been able to afford the expensive items anyway. Soe of these I have been lucky enough to stuble across in bargain boxes... one person's throwaways is another person's treasures.
Finally, when I thought I had exhausted all of the possibilities for a collector in my area, I doscovered the Internet. Through some wonderful people I have met via the Internet, I have managed to continue collecting and discovered items that I did not even know exist. To all my Internet e* friends, I can only say "Thankyou". There are too many to name, and you are all wonderful, genreous people.
A note for Dave and Annie
I hope that one day you get to see this site. I've gotten so much out of your music, and I wanted to give something back not just to you, but to the whole Eurythmics community. It took me a lot of thinking to decide on what to do. I know that you both value your privacy, so I didn't want to intrude on that area. There are other fabulous sites out there, so I ended up choosing this theme instead. In a way the items shown here have been the medium in which fans connect to you and your music. *T*H*A*N*K*Y*O*U*
